The Dutch Antilles Aruba Part 3
Food Equals Happiness
The holiday was ‘all inclusive’ which was amazing, but the late night nachos with jalapeno, chilli, cheese and sour cream got too exhausting. Although having the choice between Asian cuisine and Mexican cuisine mixed with different types of meats and desserts made for a good choice. I then took a few nights out to discover various restaurants such as the ‘J.H’. Yee’s Asian Bistro, which was fantastic because it was like walking into traditional Japanese house. The service was great, when we arrived we received fresh hot towels followed by drinks then finished off with a lovely fresh chicken orange-spiced dish with a side of noodles. The second place was an authentic family-owned Italian restaurant. The only downfall was the service was less welcoming than from from previous year, however the food was fantastic; the Lasagne was sublime and there was also an excellent ravioli prepared in a pistachio sauce. ‘Hostaria da Vittorio’ is a truly authentic Italian.
It’s Always The People
The hotel was great but, although the resort was rated five star, Riu was not up to standards due to lots of small things. However, the entertainment in the place was amazing and the people were full of life being friendly as well as a bit crazy, leading us to dancing all night. The bar staff were talkative and you could easily have down-to-earth conversations with them, but the best part of all was walking into the bar and the bartenders making exactly what you wanted before even ordering. Amazingly, one of our old bartenders from another hotel was working in the Riu so being able to see an old friend was brilliant.
Back To Reality
As our holiday came to a close, the packing began. It was still early, so I decided to go out with the staff to say my farewells before it was time for the long haul back. The wristbands got snipped off and with that so did our last meal, so again I said goodbye to my Paradise once again… but not forever.
After the next sixteen hours of waiting at airports, flying back home we eventually touched down in sunny Glasgow where our home awaited us.
And that concludes my memories of this wonderful place. I highly recommend it for families, couples and for all-round relaxing people. I hope you enjoy the images and the blog posts.
